WE ARE NOW IN OUR WINTER HOURS. December, January and February we will be open by appointment for bottle sales only. Just call us at 540.656.6177 to place and prepay your order and we will meet you at the tasting room. Tell us you want it curbside and you dont even have to get out of the car! You guys know the drill, its not your first rodeo......call the hot line and come get your wine. Now this will be bottles only, no tastings, flights, glasses, sangria or slushie will be available. But PLEASE call us when you need wine. We love meeting you guys at the tasting room and saying hi!
Additionally, this winter, we will watch the weather and when both weather and our road look good (LOL, yea we know, our road never looks that good) we will be open on Saturdays from 1pm to 4pm for bottle sales and pickup. No need to call, just show up and get what you need. Yes, you are welcome to stay and enjoy your bottle if you would like. It will be outside service as before. We will post a Facebook event around Wednesday of each week if we are going to be open that coming Saturday.
So thats the "wine picking up" plan for this winter. In the meantime we will be working on several projects that we hope will make Chateau MerrillAnne even more comfortable for you. After the way you had our backs this year there is no way we are not going to surprise you with some improvements. And, we have some absolutely incredible wines in the barrels waiting to be bottled, 4 of which we will release in March! Thank you for all your support, we truly appreciate it. We hope to see you soon! Kenny and Emily www.ChateauMerillAnne.com
In an effort to give you the safest possible experience during the COVID-19 pandemic Chateau MerrillAnne Winery will be open for onsite, outdoor-only consumption until further notice. No reservations are necessary. We will be open 11-5 on Fridays and Saturdays and 12-5 on Sundays. The safety of our patrons and staff is our primary concern and we will be following safety protocols as outlined by state and federal agencies.
This will be a strictly OUTDOOR wine experience. The tasting room will be closed and not accessible for any reason. Restroom facilities are onsite like you might find at a wine festival or other outdoor event (port-a-potty). It will be sanitized throughout the day. The restroom inside the tasting room will not be open. Staff will be wearing masks for the protection of guests. We ask that you wear masks when not at your table. Please practice social distancing and stay at least 6' away from people not in your group.
In the event of inclement weather you are welcome to wait it out in your car until it passes, but understand we do not have covered seating to offer and use of our indoor space is prohibited. Children and dogs are welcome however children must remain with their parents at all times and dogs must remain on leashes no longer than 4’ long for the entire visit.
We will be offering a "Bottled Tasting". This includes a logo tasting glass, and a bottled 1 ounce sample of each of 6 wines. There are 2 whites, 3 reds and 1 blush. There is also a tasting sheet with notes and food pairings for each wine along with a list of "Frequently Asked Questions" about Chateau MerrillAnne. We have also included crackers which you can enjoy during the tasting. The cost of this bottled tasting is just $12. This can be enjoyed at your outdoor table or you can take it home. These are available while supplies last!
We will also be offering wine by the bottle and by the glass. If you would like to enjoy your wine here we will provide you with a plastic cup. Or, you can purchase a logo tasting glass for just $2. You are welcome to bring your own glass, however we cannot fill it. Sangria and wine slushies will be available as well. We will have our full line of cheese, meats and crackers available. Paper plates and plastic utensils will be supplied. Metal tableware will not be available.
Tables will be spread out a safe distance from one another. They are available on a first come, first served basis. We will sanitize them as often as possible. Absolutely no groups larger than 10 are allowed per state regulations. You are welcome to bring chairs and/or blankets to set up your own space, but these spaces must be 10' away from any other party. Canopies are allowed, but not tents with sides.
As always outside alcohol is prohibited by Virginia ABC. Violators will be considered trespassers and will be treated as such. Absolutely no exceptions.
We hope you will be able to join us as we take this next step. If you are not yet comfortable with on site consumption we will still have our "Touch free curbside pickup" and local delivery options available so you can continue to enjoy Chateau MerrillAnne wine. Thank you for your continue support, it has never been so important to us.
Cheers!
Kenny and Emily
This was a comment made by one of our first customers. He was right, you would not expect to find such good wine on a working farm and sold out of an old barn. But what we lack in grand buildings we make up for with excellent wine, great service and a relaxing country atmosphere. If you judge wine by the curb appeal of the building it is sold from, then we are probably not for you. But if quality Virginia wine and down to earth, wine loving people are what appeals to you then we may be what you are looking for.
From our one-on-one service, where you can talk to the Owners about wine, to the rustic and relaxing tasting room, you will have a WINE EXPERIENCE! We offer indoor seating in the tasting room, a spacious deck area, and huge open meadows where you can enjoy a picnic lunch. Our quiet atmosphere, pastoral views, and great company are a perfect way to wind down from the stress of the work week. Bring a picnic lunch. We have open meadows to enjoy, or grab a table in the tasting room, vineyard or on the deck. We are convenient to Orange, Fredericksburg, Charlottesville, Richmond, Culpeper, Louisa and Barboursville. You will love the experience at Chateau MerrillAnne in Orange!
Chateau MerrillAnnes owners, Kenny and Emily White, have made some of their best friends thru the winery. Wine is the ultimate "social" food. It creates good will, offers a subject of endless conversation and brings people together. When you participate in one of our signature Pot Luck Dinners, after hours Vintner Tastings or one of our Game Nights you will make, and be among, friends. Please sign up for our e-mail updates and like our Facebook page for upcoming events. We look forward to seeing you!
Chateau MerrillAnne invites you to experience the farm elegance of our warm and intimate tasting room. A wine tasting here is not just about "Tasting" wine. It's also about exchanging wine information. It's about asking and answering questions. Its about getting to know new friends. For us, the tasting room experience is what we look forward to the most. The fun of being in the tasting room and talking wine with friends is the reason we do what we do. We are truly a wine lovers winery. No theme parties of the week, no live music, no brewery and no distillery. We are all about the wine. And while we produce dry, french style wine, we also offer Sangria and wine slushies on the weekend for our sweet lovers. Bring a picnic basket, buy a bottle and enjoy the quiet surroundings. Convenient to Orange, Fredericksburg, Charlottesville, Richmond, Louisa and Barboursville. We look forward to seeing you!
The farm now called Chateau MerrillAnne has been in the White family for over a half century. Our multi-generational ownership drives our stewardship of these scenic meadows. Our goal is to grow superior wine grapes, and give our visitors a relaxing place to enjoy our wines.
Our mission is to offer you the finest possible wine at a fair price. Our award winning wines have been critically acclaimed on state, local and international levels. Please see our "Menu" page for a complete list and description of our available wines.
